About Us

Hound Rescue started in Austin, Texas in 1998. We are a small group of individuals who foster dogs in our homes. Hound Rescue also provides placement assistance to both shelters and others who need to find homes for hounds who for whatever reason have become stray. The Houston branch became so large that it formed its own rescue in 2003.

Most of our animals come from high-kill facilities where they were scheduled to be euthanized. Because of the huge numbers of unwanted dogs, Hound Rescue Texas can only take owner surrenders on a limited basis as space permits in our foster home network.

If you are looking to give up your hound, please first read BREW's Giving Up your Beagle page and then you can take advantage of our National Hound Bulletin Board. Please also check out our Links page for other possible resources.

We are always looking to add foster homes to our network. For additional information about the organization or fostering, please send us email at: info @ houndrescue . com (remove spaces) and watch the site for future updates.
