Ralphie [Foster or Adoptive Home Needed] - Hey Ralphie Boy! Ralphie is quite a character. We didn't know what to expect with this guy, but what we got was a very curious boy who follows you from room to room watching your every move with a happy wag of his abbreviated tail. He is very submissive player with our two rambunctious young beagles and puts up with their antics. He would do fine with other dogs and has adapted quickly to a new household. He is a quick learner and eager to please, and requires a calm, positive approach since he is very sensitive to discipline. We think that he was previously with a backyard breeder since he has a tattoo in his ear. He is now attending obedience classes so if you adopt Ralphie, you would get a easy-going, sweet guy, who's working on basic obedience skills. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Calvin [Foster or adoptive home needed] Gender: Male - After 6 years with what he thought was his forever family, Calvin ended up back with Hound Rescue when the family ran out of time for him. He is a remarkable dog - smart, lively, friendly, incredibly good-natured and in fabulous shape. He has pep in his step and loves to exercise, which explains his great muscle tone, and he enjoys the outdoors a great deal. Calvin is great with kids, friendly with other dogs (he like to check them out, however) and does fine at the dog park. He likes to track, particularly cats, and will let you know it with characteristic beagle vocals when he's on the trail, but in just a few days with a foster mom, he went from bolting after them to not even noticing when they were nearby. The more secure he got in his foster home, the less vocal he was, which was the case in the house as well. He is completely housebroken and non-destructive, and can be left alone on his own without crating. When he was turned in, the owner mentioned he was top dog in his obedience class 6 years ago: he knows sit, stay, down, wait and down stay. And to top off all these great traits, he's cute, too! Calvin is just one terrific beagle boy! For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Livvy - Another wonderful success story is on the way for this beautiful tiny picture-perfect beagle. She has adjusted to her new and posh life and thinks things are pretty grand. At first she was afraid of the leash and now she loves it and keeps her walking time as exact as a Swiss watch. She wasn’t sure about visiting others in the park and now she is becoming a social butterfly who has discerning taste. She loves to play in the water, ride in the car, and most of all curl up in your lap and snuggle. Livvy is housetrained, doggie-door trained, and crate trained. She is a polite gentle dog who is all and all an easy keeper. She is practicing her leash manners (her nose is always busy on the walks) and learning not to pull but since she is only 20 lbs, it is an easy thing to manage. She is currently living with two cats and has been asked not to chase them and is doing very well with the request…but if the cats run so does she…after all she is a true beagle. She is gentle with children and friendly to most other dogs and will be ready for her new loving, forever home after July 15th. Yogi (Beagle Puppy) - (Born 5/21/09) was the fist born and the tiniest of them all. He looked just like a miniature black bear when born and could not be any sweeter. His personality is sweet, cuddly, loving and a little shy. He, like his mother will be a small beagle but even with his current temperament applicants for these pups must be ready for months and months of chewing and general puppyhood – oh-so-cute - but will require all the training a puppy will need. He would do best in a home with another dog, a yard for potty-training, and/or someone who is home a great deal of the time. He will be ready for his new home beginning July 15th. These puppies will require a spay/neuter contract with deposit until they are old enough to be neutered. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Hanna (Beagle Puppy) - (Born 5/21/09) little Hanna is a rocket of energy. She is brave and feisty and full of inquisitive spirit. She like her mother will be a small beagle but don’t let that fool you. She will need lots of supervision and training. Yes she too is – oh-so-cute - but will require all the training and work a puppy deserves. She would do best in a home with another dog, a yard for potty-training, and/or someone who is home a great deal of the time. This little bundle of love will be ready for her new home beginning July 15th. These puppies will require a spay/neuter contract with deposit. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Sancho - is a really good beagle boy, with usual puppy traits. He is friendly, energetic, gives lots of kisses, and is basically housebroken and crate trained. He plays well with his BIG foster brothers and dog toys. He is not destructive, but is a little mouthy. His foster mom is working with him on that and he is getting better. He does jump on the couch when he is tired of running through the house with the labrador, or when he wants to snuggle with mom. He sleeps through the night. Sancho is untested with cats and small children. He has been very friendly with every human he has ever met so far. He cowers a bit when a new human reaches down to pet his head, but when he feels safe he will shower you with affection. Sancho was an owner surrender at a shelter and because of overcrowding, he was destined for euthanasia. He is such a handsome lad we just couldn't let this happen. This boy deserves a permanent loving home. You will never regret bringing this sweet boy into your home. Lucy - is an adorable typical young beagle girl found dumped in the country; when no owners could be located a family took her in and is fostering her for Hound Rescue. Lucy is a typical young beagle learning the ropes, she seems new to indoor life but is doing well with her housetraining. Lucy will need some finishing touches (and some chew toys!), but is a total love who will fit into most any home. Lucy does need to have heartworm treatment, which is scheduled for August, and has a mild cherry eye that will likely need repair. Hound Rescue will cover the costs of both as part of her adoption fee (what a bargain!). For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Grant - is a sweet loving boy. He loves to cuddle and just hang out but can be playful and silly as well. He is crate trained, house trained and he can sit, shake, lie down and we are working on leash walking without pulling. He loves to go for walks and meet new people. He does however, have the loud Beagle bay for the door bell. Grant gets a little anxious when he sees other dogs when he is on a leash but he is working with a trainer to help him feel better about it. His training is coming along nicely and he does enjoy the other dogs at daycare. Grant needs a loving home as an only dog or another dog that is not pushy. He won't need a lot of exercise, a couple of good streaks around the back yard and a walk each day should do it, but will needs his diet monitored to keep him healthy. As a typical Beagle, he will eat till he drops. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Maggie - is a sweet hound mix girl looking for her forever home. When she first was found, she had no collar and was scared and nervous. A kind family took her in and worked very hard to find her original owners in case she was lost, but to no avail. When found she had a noticeable limp, but with the help of a vet, a good diet and home, and lots of love, attention, and training, she has fully recovered and is flourishing. The family who found and is fostering her has worked very hard to find her a suitable forever family since their current situation with work and travel makes it impossible to give this girl the time and attention she deserves. Maggie has so many wonderful attributes. She is incredibly loyal and always remains close by on wilderness hikes. She also enjoys swimming, cooling off in her little pool, playing fetch and going for walks, and does fine with the other dogs at our neighborhood lake park. She would benefit from an environment where she can get more attention and exercise, and she dreams of a larger yard to roam in. Her family does bring her inside during times of cold and bad weather with no problems what so ever, but she prefers to sleep outdoors on her bed when the weather is nice. She is fully house trained and not destructive (assuming you'll give her some appropriate chewing material to keep herself occupied during the day). She is also respectful and cautious around the family's two year old son, and lets him pat her and give her hugs. Larger, mixed breed hounds are generally fantastic dogs -- Hound Rescue's founder is a huge fan, sharing her home with an 80 lb coonhound mix boy (she'd take Maggie too if she could!). Maggie is a deserving dog who is ready for her forever family. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Abby & Lola - are bonded half-sisters who are both cute as a button and sweet as can be! Abby looks like the beagle version of a Teddy bear, with her sweet, rounded face and body and very soft, fuzzy fur. Lola is a beauty, sleek and slender, with the most perfect doggy eyeliner. Both girls are very friendly and well-behaved. They have been raised around small children and are great with them. Lola is quite the cuddler, loves kisses, and Abby readily flips over for a belly rub. They both enjoy walks and tracking in the backyard - though it can make your head spin to see Lola zipping around and baying when she catches a scent! Both Abby and Lola get along just fine with the other dogs in their foster home. They are new to cats and very curious about them, so will likely do best in a home with no cats or with very dog-savvy cats. (You know, the kind of cat who walks right up to a dog with that "I dare you" look on its face.) Abby is on thyroid meds (not uncommon in beagles) and has had a few seizures, but both she and Lola have received excellent care throughout their lives and are in great shape. Abby and Lola have been together ever since Lola was a small puppy, so they need a forever home where they will remain together. If you're looking for a wonderful pair, you couldn't do better than these sweethearts! Daisy - is a sweet lady that likes attention. She is a little timid but is very relaxed and laid back. She does really good on her walks. She gets along well with her foster brother and sister. When inside she likes to hang out on her bed or sit close to you. She is house broken and crate trained. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Bonnie - is a sweet girl that has really come out of her shell after a few weeks at her new foster home. After getting some much needed medical attention for a few minor issues she is feeling like a young spring chicken! She is crated trained and loves her new home with the doggy door and is working on her house breaking skills. Bonnie gets along well with other dogs and loves her foster sister kitty. She loves to lounge on the couch beside you or on her bed at your feet. She would love to have a companion dog cause she is not sure yet how to play with toys but loves to romp around with other dogs! For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Benji - is a very cool guy with a truly unknown history; the marks on his snout suggest that he may have been kept on a tie out at length, but in any case it is an old injury and Benji bears no grudges, in fact, if anything, it made him want to be with people more rather than less. Benji *loves* his people. He gets on fine with dogs and was shocked by his foster family's cats (which has engendered an undying curiosity -- but no aggression). Benji will need a very secure yard and an indoor life - he is crate trained and housebroken, so that should be easy to accomplish! About all we've found wrong with this boy is the need to drop a couple of extra pounds, work that is in progress with his foster home. If you're looking for an affectionate new buddy, consider Benji! For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Huey P - - is about the coolest beagle boy around; he came in as one overfed stray, but aside from that he's just the cat's meow. Everyone who meets Huey has fallen head over heels. Huey is great with other dogs (male and female) and humans and is quite the clown in his foster home - he's fun loving and full of personality. He adores toys, balls in particular, and thoroughly enjoys fetching. If you're looking for an easy, loving dog to bring some humor and fun to your pack, Huey's your guy. He's very people oriented and an absolute cuddlebug, plus he doesn't bark very much and although he's almost always ready to play and have fun, he's generally mellow and undemanding. He loves a soft doggie bed to snuggle into for a nice nap where he can rest up and snore gently after a good bout of fetch or squirrel chasing. Huey is housebroken and housetrained, up to date on all shots and heartworm negative.
Although he's happy and energetic, Huey is an older guy, and he has some age-related health issues. He is recovering from ACL surgery and will have his second repaired as soon as he's able. That said, he is ready for adoption (HR will pay for the surgery even if he is already in his adoptive home). This boy is just a champ and never loses his good humor, he's recovering very nicely and more ready than ever for his forever family. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Jack Black - Jack Black is a funny guy, right down to his ice cube habit. Jack has unusual looks for a beagle, which are said to come from his heritage, as we've been told he was bred from LBJ's line. But don't let his slightly squished face deter you (as if it could!), it's just one piece of his puzzle. Jack has done extremely well in his foster home with female dogs, learns quickly and adapts to new routines easily. He has been well behaved with all dogs at the local dog park, he's just not a super playful young dog. That said, he does like to play ball, and his relaxed attitude will be a plus for most owners! Best to fool him with a treat, but if he thinks you've got one he'll do the prettiest 'sit' and 'down' you've ever seen. Jack does suffer from seizures -- a very common breed trait with beagles -- but they are now well controlled by the medication he's on. This guy's a catch, might he be for you? For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Sport - is a portly gentleman who loves women, full body rubs and warm laps. He has a bit of a weight problem and like all beagles is highly motivated by food. One thing he does not like is cats though. He is housebroken, crate trained and walks decently on leash. He likes to go for leisurely walks and is quite spry! He is fine other dogs, but would do best in a household without cats. His ideal home would be a retired or semi-retired couple where someone is home a lot and maybe only 1 other animal as he really likes a lot of attention. He's not super noisy but does have a big voice so not so great for apartment living. He also rides well so would make a good traveling companion. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Harper - Our boy Harper is a champ! Harper has lost at least 15 pounds in the last two months, and yet remains his super happy self. Harper has always been fast, but now he can run with the best of the beagles in a good game of hey-I-want-that-toy! Harper loves taking his human for a walk. Being a big ol' teddy bear Harper loves to be scratched and loved on. As his name suggests, he arrrooooos a lot, but he does it in a charming (if loud) way. Because of his arroos, he would not work out well in an apartment. He's gets along with all the other dogs in the house and neighborhood, is untested with cats, and loves all humans he comes in contact with. Harper has table manners - he does not beg, and gives his human space to finish their meal. He will make sure every dog bowl in the house is licked clean. Harper is completely housebroken and uses a puppy door. Our sweet-faced lovebug is a real charmer who deserves a wonderful forever home. He would prefer to have other dogs or or human around as much as possible; he will enthusiastically greet you every time you come home. For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Buck [Adoption Pending] - is a beautiful 13" beagle boy abandoned last spring at a local kennel. Buck has wowed the owners, but they really think he deserves to live life with a family instead of at a kennel, they've described him as very sweet, a lover and having a great personality. While there Buck has started learning how to walk on a leash, heel, sit and place, making him about the best trained beagle to ever come through rescue! He's a generally good dog, crate trained, gets along well with people and other dogs.
Buck did test positive for heartworms and will need treatment. Hound Rescue covers all medical expenses for foster dogs in its care, we'd just like to get this guy to a safe, home environment so we can get him healthy and learn more about him in order to find him his perfect forever family! For more information please contact Amy at amy at houndrescue dot com or complete an APPLICATION if interested in adopting. |

Lemmy(Adoption Pending) - Is a shy girl upon first meeting, but very sweet and eager to please. She tends to be a bit nervous around new people, dogs and cats, but with a bit of time she perks right up. Lemmy is housebroken and crate trained and gaining confidence every day in her foster home. This girl is healthy, spayed and ready for adoption. In her previous home she lived with an infant with no problems, but hasn't been around older kids much for us to gauge her reaction. While you might be inclined to pass this sweet girl over she will more than reward the family willing to help her build her confidence. Lemmy is a chocolate beagle, which accounts for her coloring and her beautiful eyes!
