Hound Rescue is a non-profit, 501c3 tax deductible, all-volunteer network which exists solely on adoption fees and donations to fund its rescue efforts. Adoption fees alone often do not even begin to cover the costs we've expended on the hound. If you can't adopt and you can't foster, but want to help homeless hounds, consider making a donation to Hound Rescue! Getting a hound ready to be adopted is a major expense. Each hound that we rescue is given vaccinations, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. If the hound needs treatment for heartworms, we provide that as well at a cost of $200 or more, depending on the weight of the dog. We also provide any other medical care necessary for the dogs, which often includes treatment for kennel cough, skin problems, and other illness. For older hounds, we sometimes need to provide dental cleanings or tumor removals.
